I just wanted to share my thoughts on the All-Star teams matchups. First of all, based on inter-league play I am guessing the American League will cream the National League. I will go by position.
1st Base- Texeria vs Pujols. It will be a battle of home runs indeed. This may be the Yankee fan in me, but Texeria wins the matchup. Based on homers no, but Tex is the better overall player.
2nd Base- Pedroia beats Utley at second base not only offensively, but defensively. Pedroia makes more clutch plays than any Red Sox player.
3rd Base-I personally feel that David Wright beats out Evan Longoria. Experience. Longoria has only been playing in the big leagues for a year and a half and in opinion got lucky last year. David has always been on the wrong team. Honestly, he has been voted in by popularity this year.
Shortstop- Jeter has been having an amazing year and not even the talent Hanley Ramirez can beat Captain Clutch. Although, the matchup is going to be good to watch.
Outfield- The outfield is just about even in both leagues.Ryan Braun and Jason Bay will be the star in the field, but no one else shines in the outfield.
Pitching will not be too even and will landslide after the 8th inning. With Rivera, Papelbon, and Nathan wrapping up the game by the 8th inning the game will be in the bag.
I hope everyone enjoys their All-Star Break and keeps tuning into the Baseball Blog.

Adam you need to check your stats more carefully. For starters, Wright is leading the NL in Batting Average. Henley Ramirez is a RBI machine and the single biggest reason the Marlins are still in the hunt. Albert Pujols is simply the best player in both leagues!!!
ReplyDeleteOne thing you got right was the bullpen matchup. No contest!!!
